*Retiring support for Microsoft’s Legacy Edge Browser on August 15, 2020
Softdocs will be discontinuing support for Microsoft’s Legacy Edge browser (also referred to as Non-Chromium Edge) on August 15, 2020. If you are currently using Legacy Edge to access Etrieve, we recommend that you switch to Microsoft Edge Chromium or another supported browser. Ending support for Non-Chromium Edge will allow Softdocs to use modern web practices to improve performance and user experience as we continue adding new features.
What is Microsoft Legacy (Non-Chromium) Edge?
Microsoft Non-Chromium Edge browser is the legacy Edge browser which is based on EdgeHTML. The new Microsoft Edge is based on Chromium and is similar to Google Chrome. Chromium is an open-source project which utilizes modern web practices to support cutting edge web technologies.
What is changing for Etrieve users?
Although Softdocs will no longer support Legacy Edge, most current functionality will remain in tact (except those documented in the Release Notes). However, new functionality may not work and any issues will not be fixed. In order to optimize the experience in modern browsers, Softdocs will no longer be performing quality assurance testing in Legacy Edge so future issues experienced while using Legacy Edge will not be documented in Release Notes.
How should I prepare?
Please switch to using Softdocs in Microsoft Edge Chromium or another supported browser. If needed, reach out to your internal IT team for assistance configuring your browser. If you are an Etrieve Administrator or Power User, please share this information with End Users at your institution.
Refer to Etrieve Hardware Requirements for additional hardware requirements.
